Yesterday it was 22.

So what does that mean to you? Well, to me it meant warmth. I have been cold all winter and will be glad to see the spring. I have discovered an unfortunate aspect to my new job. I used to be on my feet at work all the time suddenly 2 months of sitting behind a desk adds up to INACTIVITY, LACK OF EXERCISE AND AN "OH MY GOD I AM NOT GOING TO FIT INTO MY SPRING CLOTHES.'
Now doesn't that just suck? Good bye bread.....sob...Good bye wine...sniff....Hello veggies..lots and lots of veggies....I am even thinking of "Curves", just thinking mind. Lets not get too extreme..

Rome

The final episode of Rome 2 will be on HBO on Sunday night. Or for those of us in Canada you can get in on Rogers On Demand for free on Tuesday night..This has been an excellent series and their web site is awesome. The attention to detail is amazing. They have taken some liberties with historical fact but only in the personal lives of the characters. You just have to love hating "Atia of the Julii" but feeling sorry for her as well...Anthony you dog! and Titus Pullo, well that is a man. Totally with out mercy to his enemy but totally besotted with his wife. Sigh. I shall be sorry to see the series end. I thought Rome 1 was good but they certainly did not drop the ball with the follow up. I can only hope there will be a "3". If you enjoy ancient history believe me you will appreciate it more!! Not to be watched by the faint of heart. Rome was a violent society and it can be very brutal. If youwould like to go to the web site click on the link above and read up on Roman Society it is easier to understand their thinking. Remember, they did not have the Judeao-Christian morality guidelines that we have grown up with. It was a very different time.

Hairstyles???

I have been surfing and looking in magazines for a new hairstyle. I have an appointment at 1 pm this afternoon. Yes, I am going blond again. I like it better than what I have now. This browny thing with black and grey roots I look like my Shih Tzu.
Firstly: Are there no hairstyles for those of us who wish to be , perish the thought, "well groomed?" Further more I am older than 30, I am NOT anorexic, I have character and experience lines in my face. I am not a perky 18 yr old! Susan Sarandon send your hairdresser to London!! I would like to be able to see out of both of my eyes at the same time. Foolish of me, I know, but I have never seen bangs so ridiculous. Thinning shears should be banned. I hate the things. I have thick hair and the first thing the hair dresser wants to do is to "thin" it out. As a result of the last butcher job I have 9 million different ends and a thin spot on the side of my head. Pisses me off.
So I am trying another hair dresser. I am so frustrated. Everytime it gets to be this length I end up getting it cut. I need the sides shortened and the top but I would like to keep the length. I wonder if she can understand that. grrr

Ok what can I say I am sucker for trying these things. Look at this and my real name means LILY! I have a stinking cold! Blow sneeze. Just on my lunch break. Of course I am at work I believe in sharing...lololol
You Are A Lily

You are a nurturer and all around natural therapist.
People see you as their rock. And they are able to depend on you.
You are a soothing influence. You can make people feel better with a few words.
Your caring has more of an impact than even you realize.

St. Patrick was a Welshman!

St. Patrick, as a young man, was kidnapped from the shores of Wales and taken to Ireland as a slave.. He escaped many years later to arrive back home to discover Christianity through the teachings of St. David. He returned to Ireland as a missionary. The story of him driving the snakes out of Ireland was a euphemism for satan.. Snakes you get it??
So there is my history in a bottle.
Can't believe I haven't blogged all week I have been knitting and knitting and knitting. I am going to cast off the collar and sew the thing up on the way to Kincardine. We leave in about an hour.
Us big girls are going to the spa for pedicures.......mmmmmm
Green supper tonight with the children and the grand daughters..... I am looking forward to the weekend away...
For heavens sake do not drink green beer...It is an American thing and just not right!..shudder

The bigger the buildup the bigger the fall!

Yup, you got it . I never made it to the Curry night. Oh sheesh too much cold medicine had a disaterous effect on my personal plumbing...enough said. Well, next time. To say nothing of the fact had I gone I would have been at the wrong restaurant....sigh
Work is back to normal and I am glad that is over. The boss says,"'till next time."
Today I have to get this front finished on my grandaughter's sweater and get the other one on the needles...I see myself knitting the collar on the way up to Kincardine next weekend. Oh dear. I should have just knit a plain sweater but no that was boring so I had to knit a pattern. I am a brute for punishment.I am sure it will be too big for her but I like big sweaters. They are cosy.
So today is marathon knitting!!!.

Curry Night Approaches!!

O.K. I have this weakness for Curry. I love the golden yellow stuff. Not the red one. mmmmm
I eat this cold Bombay Curry pasta salad...it has chicken and raisins and is best eaten with big slabs of bread and butter and washed down with cold white wine. oh joy oh bliss. My dear friend Janet would be gagging about now. she does not eat "wrinkled" fruit....lolol
So tomorrow night I am joining about 10 other "Curry/Beading" "afficianados" ( damn I can't spell it but I can say it..lolol) for dinner at the Jewel of India at 6:30...I will be thinking about it all day...yummy
Here is a little information (above) compliments of my ESL teacher friend.
I love my dear man but it is fun to have a "Girls Night Out" every now and then. On Friday I will have been at my job for 8 weeks and I haven't seen some of my beading ladies since I left LB. This will be fun.

When is a crime a crime?

How do we determine what is a crime? Oh, murder is a big crime we say. What? the value was under $3000 .....oh that's not so bad a crime.
CRIME IS CRIME, THEFT IS THEFT, MURDER IS MURDER!
What the hell is the problem with this country? We have to justify, pigeon hole and classify till I could scream.
I walked into my office this snowy and sunny Monday morning, the feng shui place... remember?.. To find the filing cabinet ripped apart, the lap top and petty cash ( which was not so petty), GONE , my desk was riffled, cheques were stolen. If only my little Blodeuwedd could speak! she was sitting on her red silk bag next to my plant, for the weekend. (She usually sits on the corner of my laptop and keeps me company during the day). Even my macho kindhearted boss looked at me and said,"I feel violated." I understand exactly what he means.
They even took the bit of change I had in my pen drawer. One of the service helpers gave me a Toonie I guess I must have looked pretty upset.
The man I work for is one of the most kind hearted people I have ever had the pleasure to know. If someone approached him and honestly said I need help I am that sure he would do it. But to rip him off hurt me as much as it hurt him.
I am so upset.
Now to the practical side. Carl work all last night and didn't get home until 7:15 AM . Fifteen minutes after the official " OMG he is in a ditch!" time. I was reaching for the phone when he walked in the door. I was so relieved to see him we hardly had time for a hug hello and a kiss good bye and I was out the door. I phoned him from the office while we were waiting for the police to say I had left the "jump drive" ( with all 5000 customer records, from the Friday back up) ( THANK GOD) on my dresser. He got dressed and came to the office to offer support to his cousin ( my boss) and to hug me. Gord sent us out computer shopping. We bought a new laptop with the company credit card......which I have to say Future Shop did not even look at the signature or ask me for confirmation on the sale.. I mean do I look like "Gordon"... on second thought don't answer that!
Of course it comes with the new Vista windows...duh.. Carl has at least been using that for a couple of weeks, no word, no excel, no software programs, it doesn't recognize the printer. I was almost in tears with customers today saying I can't confirm anything and can I get back to them this week when we are up and running. Everyone NO MATTER how important they thought their problem was was kind and understanding, For that I give my heartfelt appreciation.
My Internet book marks are gone. My passwords have to be changed for everything... you have no idea how upsetting this is.
In the grand scheme of things......this is a pimple.........an annoyance.......an embarrassment
